How does the test work?

The examination consists of taking blood from an elbow vein on an empty stomach.

This is followed by a daily dose of sugar (75 g of glucose), which you drink as a sweet flavored drink in 5 to 10 minutes in an amount of 250 ml.

It is necessary to keep calm during the examination (you will remain sitting or lying down - you will not walk), do not smoke, do not eat. At this time, a maximum of 250 ml of water can be drunk. It is not  ossible to leave the collection point (approx. 3 hours).

A relaxation place is reserved for you at the collection point. You can bring a book or a magazine.

The second and third venous blood samples follow 1 and 2 hours after drinking the drink. This completes the examination. Blood glucose (blood sugar) levels will be determined in blood samples.
The test should not be performed if the fasting blood glucose level during pregnancy is equal to or greater than 5.1 mmol / l.

Warning of possible risks

A drink that serves as a load dose is an osmotically active substance and can rarely cause health problems. In case of any health problems (nausea, vomiting, fainting, weakness), inform the medical staff immediately.

If you do not tolerate blood collection, please inform the medical staff in advance.

It is advisable to bring a snack, which you will eat after the test.

If you are allergic to disinfectants, please report this information to the medical staff who are performing the test with you before collection.

In case of epilepsy diagnosis, we advise to choose an alternative method of examination.

Examination evaluation

Your doctor will inform you of the result of the examination, to whom we will send the results.
